Ugh, exactly! Where is the money going to come from for me to seek out a naturopathic treatment? Please! Tell me! Because I would LOVE to seek natural treatment as opposed to Western medicine. I'm pretty sure there's a condition in and of itself - Western Medicine Burnout.

From what I've heard about gluten tests and other allergen tests, you need to still be consuming the allergens all up until the test. Because if the allergens aren't present in your system, of course they're not going to show up. Your body's not fighting anything, so the antigens (I think? or whatever?) aren't going to be there. And I'm going to have to look up what the test is for Celiac.

That said, honestly? Once I've found out whether or not we can do any of these tests, no matter the results, I'm going to try some sort of dietary overhaul. Something's got to give and maybe the diet is it and I've got an autoimmune disorder caused by food.

Hoping things are well with you! I'm going to make a point this week to get back to visiting my friends' blogs. Things have been so crazy!

I know exactly what you mean!
People are often asking me if I have tried this natural avenue or that thing...and I say, are you going to pay for it because my insurance won't?

I'd love to try other avenues...sick of Western medicine...but what choice do we really have? Money does play a key role.

about the wheat...there is an allergy test for it, but a lot people will test negative and are intolerant to wheat and/or gluten. Have they tested you for Celiac? just curious...but there again, if you are intolerant it won't show. they don't have a handy dandy breath test for gluten like they do lactose and fructose. You can be tested for those.
However, always ask...what is the percentage of false negatives and false positives with this test?

If you don't get the answers from Western Medicine there is a diet that is supposed to help heal leaky gut and all sorts of stuff. the GAPS diet....it's a lot like the Specific Charbohydrate Diet. I'm thinking about going on it, but adjusted for my fructose troubles...but it's difficult..and I think it'll be expensive. But I'm thinking about it. We'll see.

good luck my friend.

Oh, that's fantastic! I loooooove the roasts. I figured out that Kroger puts meats in the Manager's Special section every Sunday, so I'll go in and pretty much clear out that section once every other week or so, haha! They work in so many meals, it's great!

Ahhh! I can't believe I didn't even think to use the bones for stock! I'm going to have to check that website out! There's a lot I can't eat and that I'm moving away from, and especially with eating kosher, it can get tricky, to be sure!

The funny thing is, we don't eat hardly any meat when MarvMan is gone. It's just easier and faster to skip the meat part of dinner, haha! I warn him that we're practically vegetarians when he's gone and he just laughs and shakes his head at me, hehe. But it's true!

Fabulous way to stretch that chicken! I do the same thing. I buy chicken that is on manager's special. It makes us all happy, because out of 4 of us, 3 eat white meat, and only one eats dark. I usually get a baked chicken dinner out of it, then use the leftovers for shredded chicken mixed with peas and carrots over noodles.
Another thing to watch for is roast beef. You can get a decent piece for about $7-$8. I cook it for roast one night, slice some for lunch meat after, and then whatever is left goes into my freezer bag. After we have had a couple roasts, or even some steak leftovers thrown in, I dice it all up and throw it in the crockpot with some water and seasonings. Later in the day add the frozen veggies, and then serve over noodles or rice. Yum! Also could make steak subs out of the leftovers.

Oh I love buying the $.99 /lb split breast!!
For one, I make my own chicken stock...since I can't have onions it's easier to do it myself, and cheaper! So when I debone the chicken breast I leave a little on the bone...not much...then toss the bones in a ziploc bag with the skin (mark it as For Chicken Stock)...and just keep adding to it until I have enough. If I find a while chicken on sale I do the same.
Then those wilted veggies you hate to throw away but they aren't really good for much...well they are good for stock...so i have a baggie in the freezer for those too. Every couple of weeks I make up a big pot of stock. For use in soups, recipes, or just a nice cup of broth on a cold night...or when I have a cold.

Love getting that chicken on sale!!!

Here's a website you might be interested in...I used to follow her blog, but now since there is so much I can't eat....it's more difficult. http://www.5dollardinners.com/

You can do it!!!
I remember we had some fine meals when my dad was gone, I didn't realize everyone didn't eat as many beans as we did. : ) And chicken....lot's of chicken. I remember we used to shop at the Navy Commissary. I didn't understand what a grocery store was.

You are a wonder my dear!!

If you ever need to talk, you know my number. I know I am scared I am going to lose it sometime in the next 6 weeks with having to do everything around here, but I won't dare tell Ev that. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind, even after everything that happened in the last couple of weeks, but it's hard doing it all and school too. I'm thinking about you girl! No matter what, I always think you are awesome and I love you! :)

What a wonderful sight. You and MarvMan snuggled up together.

I know many people take that for granted.
But even though my hubby works from home and I get to see him all the time, those cuddle up times are special. It's a time when he isn't working, or taking care of me....a time when we can actually agree on what to watch. Me with a degree in Art and him in Computer Science...yeah, TV shows are a bit at odds....luckily we both like fun sci-fi silliness..like Dr. Who, and we both love British mysteries. And we also both love cartoons! Guess we do have a few things we can watch together.

Special just you and him time is precious. don't forget to include that in the mix, even if it's just for a little bit. With your situation, it's even more precious and important than for most.

You are doing a splendid job.
hugs
